For its first participation at the World Nuclear Exhibition (WNE), Otrera took advantage of WNE to publicly affirm the maturity of its technology and the strength of its industrial trajectory. Over three days, the team presented its technology at 1:1 scale, formalized several industrial partnerships, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), a strategic milestone for international cooperation on sodium-cooled fast reactors (SFR-Na).
An Immersion at the Heart of the Reactor
At booth M72, visitors were able to experience something unprecedented through an extended reality system developed with Atom XR and Studio3615. With a headset on, they literally dove into the heart of the Otrera reactor, at full scale. A concrete way to understand the technological maturity level of the solution and to make the modular and compact design of the sodium SMR tangible.

Formalized Partnerships and Collaborations
The exhibition was also an opportunity to confirm the industrial dimension of the Otrera project, with the signing of several promising partnerships:
- Reel and CNIM Systèmes Industriels: nuclear design and manufacturing;
- EKIUM – Groupe SNEF: techno-economic modeling.
- Groupe ADF: industrialization of the primary vessel;
- Ingérop: regulatory engineering and design;
- Onet Technologies: instrumentation, maintenance, and operability;
As well as key collaborations:
- NEEXT: energy conversion cycle architecture;
- Apave: integration of safety requirements;
Each partnership strengthens a strategic link: from design to assembly, from regulation to industrialization.

Franco-Japanese Cooperation on SFRs
Another highlight: the signing of an MoU with JAEA, to share operational feedback on loop-type SFRs, particularly around JOYO, the Japanese reactor located in Ibaraki.
“By combining French expertise in fast reactors and Japanese operational experience, we are accelerating the development of safer and more sustainable nuclear energy.”

A Notable Visit from the High Commissioner for Atomic Energy
Among the highlights of the exhibition, Otrera had the honor of welcoming the High Commissioner for Atomic Energy, Vincent Berger, to its booth M72. He too was able to experience the unprecedented immersive experience at the heart of the Otrera reactor at 1:1 scale.
We were particularly honored by his attentive listening and technical curiosity, and proud to present the work of our teams as well as the innovation driven by Otrera in the sodium-cooled fast reactor sector.

A Booth Under the Banner of Energy Sovereignty
The presence of Mr. Hervé Morin, President of the Normandy Region, at the Otrera booth marked strong recognition of the territorial and strategic anchoring of the project. The discussions notably focused on the location of Otrera’s future plant in Normandy.

The entire team leaves WNE with strengthened commitments, increased visibility, and a shared conviction: the future of nuclear energy will be built together, in France and beyond.
