Paris, October 22, 2024 – Otrera, a designer of fourth-generation nuclear reactors, announces its integration into the “MOX RNR” working group, an initiative bringing together several new nuclear stakeholders to rebuild the industrial framework for fuel supply and accelerate the development of fast neutron reactors nationally and internationally.
This working group, initiated by Orano, brings together Otrera, Hexana, and Newcleo. The common objective is to study and then rebuild the industrial (manufacturing, reprocessing) and logistical (transport and regulatory issues) tools for MOX (Mixed Oxide Fuel) intended for fast neutron nuclear reactors, a key element for the deployment of the OTRERA fleet.
Frédéric Varaine, founder and CEO of Otrera, states:
We are proud to join this working group alongside renowned partners. This strategic collaboration allows us to pool our efforts and progress more rapidly in implementing innovative nuclear solutions. The development of MOX is a crucial step for the new generation of fast neutron reactors.
The development of MOX fuel is a major challenge for the success of next-generation reactors. It is a challenge that can only be met through close collaboration and mutual trust among partners. Good understanding and cooperation are essential to advance this technology efficiently and safely.
